The Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia has announced the birth of an extremely rare breed of monkey.

The newborn Francois’ langur was discovered on Nov. 7 cradled in his mother Meili’s arms. Zookeepers have named the monkey Nangua, which is the Mandarin word for pumpkin, after its bright orange hair. Bright orange hair is a common trait for newborn Francois’ langers. Their hair turns black with age. Scientists believe the bright colour serves as a signal to other adult monkeys to identify and look after the infants. According to the Taronga Conservation Society, Francois’ Langurs practice community parenting where other females in the group help raise the newborn.
