Chrysler sends 200 off with special edition

The Chrysler 200 may be going away, but Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is giving it a proper send-off, with a new Alloy Edition meant to showcase the company’s colour and material design prowess.

Also applicable to the full-size 300S sedan, the Alloy Edition adds a brilliant exterior paint job, sport tuned suspension, and all-wheel drive. Both cars will be in dealerships in spring 2016.

“Chrysler brand embodies Detroit style, and our new 200S and 300S Alloy Editions are a perfect meld of our engineering innovation and craftsmanship, forged with cutting-edge colours and materials inspired by the Motor City’s ingenuity and creativity,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America.

“Inspired by our local artisans who continue to push design and ingenuity in new directions, the new 200S and 300S Alloy Editions highlight the latest in style through unique bronze and titanium finishes that exude a natural warmth, energy and commanding brilliance – while contrasting the S models’ athletic styling and blacked-out details,” added Brandon Faurote, Head of Chrysler Brand Design.

The primary talking point is the Dark Bronze accents — the strip that wraps under the grille and finishes off like eyebrows over the headlights, along the top of the lower grille and under the foglights, the 19-inch aluminum wheels, and the 200S logo — that add a hint of forged elegance to the Gloss Black Clear Coat exterior. The black paint job is also offset by the Titanium rear Chrysler badge and dual exhaust tips.

The accents will look equally stunning on the other four exterior colours — Black Forest Green Pearl Coat, Redline Tri-coat Pearl, Granite Crystal Metallic Clear Coat and Bright White Clear Coat

The exterior is tastefully mimicked inside, offering black cloth with leather trim or black leather seating, both accented with Caramel stitching, which is carried over to the center arm rest and door trim panels. The Caramel is also used on the “S” embroidered on the front seat shoulder rests. The Titanium accents are found on the door trim panels, center console and outboard air vents, and on the Chrysler wing badge in the steering wheel hub.

For more sportiness, the car can be optioned up with a Mopar exterior package (chin spoiler, taller side sills, and rear side sill extensions.

Power is provided by the 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 (295 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque) or year-round performance, the 2016 Chrysler 200S Alloy Edition uses an advanced AWD system that can electronically adjust back to front-wheel drive to improve fuel efficiency.
