Chocolate fiends no longer have to wait until Easter to stock up on Cadbury creme eggs, provided they can afford a plane ticket: The famed British candymaker will open a three-story pop-up shop in London’s Soho neighborhood this Thursday. Part cafe, part playground, the Creme Egg will entice visitors to try its namesake in a toastie sandwich (with a warm, gooey creme egg slathered between two slices of toasted bread), baked into a chocolate cake, or as a slightly healthier dish of strawberries and mini Creme Eggs. To work off all that sugar, there will be a Chuck E. Cheese-esque ball pit (no word on whether the balls will actually be Creme Eggs—that could get messy). Unfortunately, there will not be any Cadbury cocktails.
One possible reason for Cadbury’s fun new marketing strategy could be the backlash the company got last year when it changed the longtime Creme Egg recipe. The move, which was reportedly done to save money, removed the Dairy Milk brand chocolate that had been a critical ingredient. Fans of the candies took to social media to complain about the different taste, and Cadbury reportedly lost some £6 million ($8.5 million) in sales after making the switch.
Creme Egg will be open Fridays from 5–9 p.m., making it a fun alternative to traditional happy hour, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 2–6 p.m., from January 22 to March 6. If you want to check out the Creme Egg in person, you will need to make a reservation via Eventbrite. There will be some walk-ins accepted, but considering the appeal of a three-story chocolate palace, you might not want to chance it.
