marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The large event, held at the Enercare Centre, brought together families and communities in one of the country’s biggest Eid celebrations.
However, despite the festive atmosphere, many attendees said the occasion was marked by a sense of sadness due to ongoing conflicts around the world. Organizers noted that while Eid is traditionally a time of joy, unity and gratitude, this year it also carried emotional weight because of rising tensions in regions such as Gaza, Sudan, Lebanon, Iran and Afghanistan.
The event was organized by the Muslim Association of Canada, which highlighted the importance of community support and solidarity. Speakers emphasized that the global Muslim community shares a deep connection, and suffering in one part of the world is felt by others everywhere.
Attendees described the gathering as both a celebration and a moment of reflection — a chance to come together, support one another, and find strength during difficult times.
