has officially been launched in Alberta by Peter Guthrie at an event held at Calgary’s BMO Centre.
Background
Guthrie was previously a member of the United Conservative Party (UCP) but was removed from the party after criticizing the government’s handling of a health contract controversy and supporting calls for a public inquiry. He later sat as an independent before forming this new party.
What the party stands for
Guthrie says the party aims to represent conservatives who feel disconnected from the current political direction in Alberta. Its key principles include:
- Fiscal responsibility
- Government accountability
- Limited government intervention
- Keeping Alberta within Canada
- Evidence-based decision-making
Future plans
With the next provincial election expected in 2027, the party plans to run candidates in all 87 ridings across Alberta.
